RACK (Random Acts of Christmas Kindness)

We are quickly approaching day 3! I have been BLESSED already not only by my own experiences but by the experiences of those around me!

Keep the texts, FB posts, tweets, and messages coming! They are making my day!

RANDOM ACTS OF CHRISTMAS KINDNESS INFO

Below are a few guidelines for the 12 days of Christmas, if you cannot do what is outlined just do SOMETHING everyday!

Let’s RACK (Random Acts of Christmas Kindness) those around us!

I love each of you and I am wishing you God’s best.

December 12, 2011- Day 1- (We will start simple)

Today do not just pass the homeless person on the street, if they are there with a sign give them SOMETHING and a kind word. If you do not encounter a homeless person on the street give to the Salvation Army bell ringers somewhere today.

December 13, 2011 Day 2

Call a local nursing home; ask if they have one person there with no family this holiday season. Ask them one thing that person needs or desires. Purchase the one item and have it at the nursing home by December 24th. Advise the staff you do not have to see the person or invade their space and if necessary you can just give the gift to the staff and they can deliver to the person.

December 14, 2011 Day 3

Speak with your pastor and ask if he is aware of a family that is in need this holiday season. If he is purchase a gift card of at least $10 from a chain store (Wal-Mart or Target for example) and give to your pastor to give to them. Ask that he do so anonymously, you do not need the glory and the person does not need to know.

If you do not know of anyone in your congregation there is someone in our congregation that could use the help, please contact me for details.

December 15, 2011 Day 4

This time of year several students in schools begin to run low on pencils, Kleenex, and other necessary supplies. Purchase a few packages of pencils or a few boxes of Kleenex and take to a local school.

December 16, 2011 Day 5

Call a local homeless shelter, food kitchen, or group home ask them one item they are in need of this holiday season, purchase a few of those items and deliver by December 24th.

December 17, 2011-Day 6

Become a people watcher today while you are out and about. Today pay attention to those around you and use discernment to help someone who is in need.

December 18, 2011-Day 7

Think of a neighbor or coworker that you never talk to or rarely encounter, purchase that person a Christmas card. Give it to the first person that comes to mind, more than likely that is the person who needs it.

December 19, 2011-Day 8

Call a local children’s hospital and see what the children’s ICU or those children who are there long term would like.

For example Women & Children’s Hospital in Columbia has Wii’s so they needed extra remotes so that children could play with their family members and requested movies for their library.

December 20, 2011-Day 9

Purchase a several can goods and return to a bin that is having a can food drive. This time of year several grocery stores have the Harvesters bins.

December 21 2011-Day 10

Send a text, you do it everyday anyway but this time it will donate to a worthy cause., the charge will be added to your monthly bill. Donations range between $5-$10.00. Pick one from the list below:

-Text “REDCROSS” to 90999 to give $10 to American Red Cross Disaster Relief

-Text “KOMEN” to 90999 to give $10 Susan G. Komen for the Cure

-Text “ALIVE” to 90999 to donate $5 to Keep A Child Alive an organization that provides medicine to HIV and AIDS-inflicted families in Africa and India.

December 22 2011-Day 11

Do something for your mailman. Leave a small note of thanks and possibly a treat or small gift for your mailman. He may not need the money but he may need to know he is appreciated, especially during this time of year.

December 23 2011-Day 12

Today is the last day. Purchase a gift card of any amount at any store and give it to the person immediately behind you in line.

12 Days of Christmas--Random Acts of Christmas Kindness

I want to get the body of Christ as a whole to join in on 12 days of Random Acts of Kindness with me beginning December 12th!

Below you will find a copy of a letter I sent to all my friends who wanted to participate. Please feel free to join us.

12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS 2011
I am ecstatic that the people of God has decided to move together as one body and show those around us that God has not forgot. The holidays are a hard time of year for many, while we scramble to purchase wants there are many choosing between paying the light bill and the water bill.

When I expressed the idea many shared this is something they always do as a result of that comment I thought outside of the box for the 12 days of Christmas. Some days will remove you from your comfort zone and have you encounter people that you might not otherwise encounter. However if Jesus could travel to the sick, needy, and hurt by foot we certainly can do it with a car!

Below are a few guidelines for the 12 days of Christmas, if you cannot do what is outlined just do SOMETHING everyday!

Today is the last day.  Purchase a gift card of any amount at any store and give it to the person immediately behind you in line.
Let's show gratitude for every time we "fell" its then we learned what we were made of. Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising when we fall.
rom losing even with good tactics! That is something worth showing gratitude for!
Thank God that lifes trials has taught u to strategic approaches. Knowing HOW to fight is a tactic. Knowing WHEN to fight is a strategy. Strategy protects you f
Be grateful for patience. In the Bible PATIENCE is "consistent behavior." It means being THE SAME no matter what. TRIALS reveal PATIENCE at work in you.
Show gratitude on today 4 the fact that no matter how ugly your past is God has the ability to make your future beautiful! It's not over until God says its over
B grateful that what God says is 4 u is 4 u. There is NO devil in hell that can STOP it. So don't desire what God hasn't said is yours but wait 4 what He said.
As much as you can, give thanks. He's already given us more than we deserve.
Yesterday time caught up with me so today there will b 2 posts. Let's b grateful that wherever we r God is. We cannot escapes His presence now thats a blessing

Day 21 of 30 days of Gratitude

Today let's focus on FORGIVENESS!

The ability to forgive and be forgiven!

We have been forgiven by friends and family but more importantly we have been forgiven by God!

Think of all things you have done that others would say you were not worthy of forgiveness for BUT God saw fit to not only forgive us but afford us with new mercies the next day and the day after.

Show gratitude not only for being forgiven but for your ability to forgive. If you have grudges you are holding let go, let God, and walk into the things God has for you!

Let's show gratitude for forgiveness today and while doing so reflect on the following scriptures:

Mat 6:12 And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.

Mat 6:14-15 For if you forgive others for their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive your transgressions.

Luk 23:34 But Jesus was saying, Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing. And they cast lots, dividing up His garments among themselves.

1Jn 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

DAY 20 of 30 days of Gratitude

DAY 20

Can you believe that this 30 day challenge is more than half-way over? In the midst of it all I have found myself giving thanks for all the things that REALLY matter!

Today lets show gratitude for laughter. I know it seems pretty simple but just remember all the times when in the midst of your tears that your laughter or someone else's brightened your day.

As a mother one of the best gifts I have had the opportunity of experiencing is the laughter of my children. It is something about it that lets me know that everything will be ok.

Sometimes laughter is the rainbow after the storm, it is a reminder that no matter what may be going on in life there is still SOMETHING worth laughing about, smiling about, and appreciating.
Today show gratitude for memories. Sometimes its the memories that get us through hard times & other times they humble us by reminding us of the hard times.
Show gratitude 4 your 5 senses. I saw a man earlier who was color blind & didn't know blue from purple. It's little things we take 4 granted; appreciate them
Instead of thinking about all that has gone wrong, think about all that has gone right that could have gone wrong.God protected you. So gratitude for that!
Let's be gratefully for traveling mercies. God has kept us from dangers seen and unseen as we have traveled from point A to point B daily. Let's show gratitude
It's late & I've been with my family. We should ALL show gratitude 4 our family. We can't choose them but we can choose to love them! Sometimes their all we got
Today show gratitude for revelation. When God gives us revelation we see the same situation through a different pair of eyes
The day is almost over but its never too late to show gratitude. Let's focus on intercession. The ability for us to intercede for those we love & vice versa.

Day 12 of 30 days of Gratitude Challenge

Day 12

Today we will focus on giving gratitude for the work of our hands.

We know from scripture that the work of our hands shall be blessed, EVERYTHING we put our hands to.

Just knowing that everything we do has the potential to be blessed if we do it in the right attitude and within the will of God is something to show gratitude for!

“Give generously to him and do so without a grudging heart; then because of this the LORD your God will bless you in all your work and in everything you put your hand to.” ---Deuteronomy 15:10

Day 11, 30 days of gratitude challenge

Today is day 11 of our challenge and let us focus on the fact that we live in peace.

Although crime has been on the rise and we are likely to know someone's whose life ended far too soon that is very different from many places were the people live in the midst of constant war, fighting, and fear.

Imagine if you were in the midst of some of the countries that you only read about or see on CNN. Show gratitude to God today for His perfect peace.

"You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you." Isaiah 26:3
Today let's show gratitude for the opportunity to fellowship with other BELIEVERS. Today has been REFRESHING for me & I hope you can say the same!

30 days of Gratitude Challenge-Day 9

DAY 9

Today I will start with this quote:

If the only prayer you said in your whole life was, “thank you,” that would suffice.” - Meister Eckhart

Gratitude is all abut being thankful for what you already HAVE, not what you want, think you need, or hoping you get!

Today we are going to show gratitude because we will realize when we put ourselves in a position to be grateful for ALL things in our lives that gratitude has the ability to shift our loves for the BETTER.

Today make the effort to make a GRATITUDE LIST:

Even on what appears to be a bad day you will find there is ALWAYS something to be thankful for!

DAY 8 30 DAYS OF GRATITUDE

As the challenge goes on I can think of more and more things to be grateful for!

Today let's focus on being restored!

You know what it is like to be down to your last, to not know your worth, to feel like you are at the end of the rope oh but when God restores you it is a feeling like no other!

TODAY SHOW GRATITUDE BECAUSE YOU HAVE BEEN RESTORED!

"He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake."--Psalm 23:3

"But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."---Isaiah 40:31

Day 7 of 30 days of gratitude Challenge

Today we will be grateful that sometimes God answers “NO”

In our mind we believe that God should always say “Yes, Sure, and OK” to our prayers! I am so glad that stuff or people I thought I needed God said No to….

Makes me appreciate Beyonce’s song, “Best thing I never had” so much more!

We must remember when we pray these three things in relation to how God answers our prayer:

*Love of God-God desires what is best for you.
*Wisdom of God-God knows what is best for you.
*Power of God-Only God has the power to bring it to pass.

Today show gratitude because God told you NO!

Day 6 of the 30 days of gratitude!

We are moving right along and I do not know about you but everyday I wake up with a new sense of gratefulness because I am making it a point to be grateful.

Today we are going to focus on gratitude for our TRIALS.

I know that sounds crazy but just imagine what your trials have taught you.

Mine has taught me who my real friends are, that I can endure a lot more than what I thought I could, my trials have molded me for the better, they have made me a stronger prayer warrior, and most importantly they have taught me that God will do just what He said He would do.

I am grateful that through my trials I have learned God is FAITHFUL!

Today show some gratitude for your trials!

DAY 5 OF 30 DAYS OF GRATITUDE CHALLENGE

Today is day 5 of the 30 day gratitude challenge.
Today we will focus on PEACE, the peace that surpasses all understanding.
I am so glad that God is a God of peace. Think about those storms you have made it out of or even the ones you are in now and remember that God can and will provide peace.

I thank a dear friend of mine for giving me this prayer I say daily now, “Lord by NO means should no one or no thing still my peace on today”

Scriptures to read on today to help you be grateful for God’s peace.
John 14:27

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

Philippians 4:7

“And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

30 days of Gratitude-Day 4

We have made it to day 4 of this challenge only by God's grace.  If you were serious about yesterday's focus area then you can really appreciate God's grace.

I hope that you find yourself daily letting gratitude roll off of your lips instead of complaints.

Today I challenge you to focus on finances. Thank God that although you may not have all the money you want, he has given you enough to have your needs met.

You were able to put clothes on your back, shoes on your feet, and there has been a meal on the table.

Until we are appreciative of what we have then why should we be blessed with more?

30 DAYS OF GRATITUDE-DAY 3

I pray that on this journey we create a new habit, instead of complaining when things appear to not be working in our favor we open our mouths with gratitude for all God has done, all God is going to do, and just because of who God is!

Today we the area we will focus on is GRACE

"But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness...."
2 Corinthians 12:9

If you still feel you have no reason to show gratitude for grace then remember that grace is defined as getting what you don't deserve, or more formally unmerited favor.

"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and not from yourselves, it is the gift of God."
Ephesians 2:8

On today lets show gratitude for God's grace, and if you need some help have a flash back to a situation in your life when you know grace is the reason you received unmerited favor.

30 days of Gratitude-Day 2

30 DAYS OF GRATITUDE CHALLENGE

DAY 2

Today for our gratitude challenge we will be grateful for those in our life who truly love us.

They have no hidden agendas, know our hang-ups, do not talk about us behind out back, believe in us when we do not believe in ourselves, laugh with us, cry with us, and pray for us when we are going through the storm.

If you are feeling like you do not have anyone in your life that loves you like this then let me lead you to the two scriptures below:

John 3:16

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.”

John 10:15

“Just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep.”

30 DAYS OF GRATITUDE CHALLENGE-DAY 1

After mcuh thought about how we often get caught up in the things that really do not matter I decided to extend a 30 day challenge of gratitude.

If we focus on the good and all that God has done for us then we will not have the opportunity to complain about what is going wrong.

Every day I will give you a different area to focus on, I won’t tell you what to focus on within that area but I will give you a suggestion to get you thinking HOW GRATEFUL YOU ARE!!

DO YOU ACCEPT MY CHALLENGE? I HOPE SO!

DAY 1

FOCUS ON YOUR GRATITUDE FOR LIFE-

The reality is that today is a gift. I am certain that with all the untimely deaths that it is evident that tomorrow is not promised. Be grateful that God saw fit to give you another day and now you reflect on why this day is something you personally are grateful for.

I prasie God for another day to be a better wife, mom, daughter!
Another chance to get closer to Him and to know Him better.
Finally I am grateful that he saw fit to give me another chance to get it right!

Wal-Mart Does Rollback on Gas Until September 30th

My husband and I have been taking part in this deal all summer and thought it was a MUST to share with those who may not know.

This past June Wal-Mart announced that participating Murphy USA gas stations that are located on Wal-Mart premises are doing a rollback on gas until September 3oth.

When you purchase your gas with a reloadable Wal-Mart gift card, money card, or a Wal-Mart credit card then $0.10 will be taken off the price.

If the original price per gallon is $3.49 then you will pay $3.39 a gallon. Those dimes add up.

If you shop at Wal-Mart anyway just add some money to a free reloadable giftcard and you are all set.

Take it from me it is worth the extra effort.

WHY YOU SHOULD PRICE MATCH

For all of you who want to save money and have begun to use coupons, REMEMBER that the ads are just as important as the coupons.

You can take all store ads to Wal-Mart and now Target too and they will price match the lower price.

This saves money in gas because you do not have to drive from store to store and also because it causes you to look at ads you normally would not entertain.

Make sure you always print out a copy of the store's price match policy and remember they do take ads printed from your computer.

Also the ad's contain store coupons and Wal-Mart does take other store coupons.

Often if you price match and use a store or manufacturer coupon you can get the item for free or close to free.

MY ADVICE TO YOU IS TO PRICE MATCH!

10 Things I Learned (or At Least Was Reminded) From "The Help"

The Help was well written, colorful, and the casting was brilliant. This is by far the best movie I have seen in a long time! There is something about this story that hit home for me! Below are 10 things I learned or at the very least was reminded while watching the movie.

1-It does not take a group of people to make change; it takes one person willing to step out and make the change.

2- It is possible to laugh, cry, and become angry all in a matter of minutes and NOT be bipolar.

3-God has not created a spirit of fear-BE BOLD! Sometimes being bold means doing the unpopular thing and possibly even the dangerous thing.

4-When God speaks, listen and then do as He says!

5-Mothers are the architects of their children's lives. A mothers negativity or lack of support can leave a lifetime of wounds. (I know this first hand)

6-God is the orchestrator of great things-be prepared to have your mind blown when you let Him lead you!

7-Every woman needs ONE good friend and a few good buddies; but great women do not run in packs.

8-There will always be at least ONE person who will cross your path in life just to encourage, motivate, and love you-APPRECIATE THEM.

9-A loud mouth does NOT equate to great ideas or boldness!

10-It is never too late to walk in your purpose; so start walking!

Hannah & Peninnah Bible Study-1 Samuel 1: 1-28

I decided to share my Bible study notes for those interested in more about Hannah & Peninnah.

1 Samuel 1: 1-28
Main Characters in this chapter:
Elkanah-Means “God has created” Hannah-Means “Grace, gracious, or favor”
Peninnah-Means “Pearl or precious gem” Samuel-Means “name of God or the Hebrew word it is similar to translates to “heard of God”

Break down of verses 1-6

Vs. 1-Introduces Elkanah; Hannah’s husband

Vs. 2-Introduces Elkanah’s wives: Hannah & Peninnah. This verse also informs the reader that Peninnah had children while Hannah was barren.

For a Hebrew wife or concubine to be barren was viewed as outsiders as disobedience to God, and the consequence was very public. People on the outside NEVER REALLY know what is going on.

*Hannah’s name means grace, however it was a disgrace in the inability of a woman to conceive a child carried serious religious overtones with it. Even if it was acknowledge that she may possibly have a health issue then it was still seen as a form of disobedience by the barren woman.

People automatically assumed that a barren woman was disobedient in some area of her life, which as a result caused God to close her womb. The closing of her womb then lead to another disobedience of the woman not bringing new life into the world; because she was not being fruitful and multiplying (Genesis 1:28)

Vs. 3-The Lord of Hosts; emphasizes God’s complete sovereignty over everything and everyone, ALL OF CREATION

Vs. 4- Elkanah gives to Peninnah HER portion-(No more or no less, just what was hers.)

Vs. 5-A Double Portion throughout Bible a double portion is a sign of favor and honor.
Not only did Hannah get what was hers but she got some more, Elkanah favored Hannah although she had not given him any children. A clear sign he loved her more, which is also part of the reason Peninnah taunted her.

The Lord closed her womb: This reminds us that God did this, no one but Him. Remember God allows things/obstacles and we cannot blame the devil for everything. Note: God also did the same thing with Sarah (Genesis 16:2)

Vs. 6- Her Rival-scripture makes it very clear they were not friends, further more polygamy although practiced was not of God and only brought about problems and issues.

Provoked Her- To be provoked is not always a bad thing, provoking can push us into our next level.

Break down of verses 7-16

Vs. 7-Went up to house of Lord- Elkanah was a Godly man because the law only require that he go to the house of the Lord 3 times a year. However he took his whole family and also presented offerings on each family member’s behalf. He modeled the ways of the Lord to his family not just told them about it

Year after Year-We will continue to be sick and tired and going through the same non-sense until we get tired of going through it!

Vs.8-Why do you weep- Elkanah had NO clue Hannah’s pain; he loved her and provided for her and that is all he understood. The scripture proves there comes a point where what you will need only God can provide. No matter how much they love you or how much you love them there are some needs only God can meet.

Vs. 10-Weeped bitterly-Her pain and hurt had turned to bitterness. It is one thing to be burden it is a completely different to be bitter. One can conclude that Peninnah’s taunting had a great deal to do with this bitterness. We must be careful when we are bitter because bitterness produces the sin of unforgiveness. Bitterness can cause us to miss the grace of God! (Hebrews 12:15).

Vs. 11-She made a Vow- The vows and promises you make to God are serious, do NOT play with them. God takes the vows we make to Him and before Him seriously.

No razor shall come upon his head-We can see two things here. Hannah prayed for a son and was confident she would get a son, since she referred to the child as “him.” Are we this confident in our prayer lives?

Vs. 12-She made a Vow- The vow is the vow a Nazirite took, however a Nazirite made the vows voluntarily themselves as young men, she was making the vow for her unborn son. The vow was also only for a limited time she vowed her son’s whole life to this commitment.

A Nazirite did not cut his hair, drink wine, and avoided contact with dead bodies. At this moment Hannah also gave up all motherly rights and dedicated her son fully to the Lord’s service.

Vs. 13-Hannah was praying in her heart-God does not need the words to be verbal in order for Him to hear and respond.

Eli thought she was drunk-Eli was so use to the sin and the immortality his sons displayed in the temple with women he automatically assumed that Hannah had to be drunk.

SIDE NOTE: Church people’s assumptions are often the worse assumptions. However don’t get church people confused with God’s people

Hannah’s heart was dedicated and in sync with God but because Eli’s heart was not dedicated to God he assumed the worse.

Vs. 15-I am a woman who is deeply troubled; I was pouring out my soul to the Lord-Hannah had to defend her private prayers to the man of God. This is sad when Eli, the person who is suppose to intercede on the people of God and defend them is who she had to
defend herself to.

Vs.16-Out of my great anguish and grief-Hannah did what we all need to do when a burden is too heavy to bear, she took it to God.

Break down of verses 17-28

Vs. 17-“Go in peace, and may the God of Israel grant you what you have asked of him.”- Once Eli understood he was in agreement. This shows the connection the man of God should have but more importantly shows that where 2 or 3 agree, there is God. (Matthew 18:20)

Vs. 18-Her face was no longer sad-As soon as she gave it to God she left in peace, this demonstrates Hannah’s level of faith. She accepted the blessing that Eli gave her as a promise from the Lord.

Vs. 19- Elkanah made love to his wife Hannah, and the LORD remembered her.-This leads you to believe that immediately she conceived. The God remembered her is more a reminder for us that God never forgets.

V.20- She named him Samuel, saying, “Because I asked the LORD for him.”- Samuel was born and his name displays that there was no doubt in Hannah’s mind he was a gift from God.

V.21-And his vow-Although Elkanah had the ability to override the vow Hannah made before the Lord he did not, he instead supported the vow and made it his own.

V.23-After the boy is weaned-during this time the child was breastfeed until they were about 2-3, it is assumed Samuel went to the temple at 3 years of age.

V.28- So now I give him to the LORD.-Hannah kept her word. She was partially obedient but fully obedient. She gave her only son to a lifelong service in the temple with no expectation to ever receive him back.

Let God Handle It

This is just a reminder that if you have prayed and ask God to do something let Him do it. He does not need your help. If you are going to ask God to step in then it is time you step out.

Do not worry about "how, when, or how" He will do what you need Him to do, just remember that He has the power to do what you ask Him to do!

So this is just a reminder, TO LET GOD HANDLE IT!

Coupons, Coupons, Coupons

For those who desire to get this coupon thing under your belt let me share some information I just found out about. There is a website Insert Insanity.

They collect Smartsource, Red Plum, and P&G inserts from the best parts of the country on a Sunday and mail them to you. They give you 6, 10, or 12 of each depending on your order choice. You can preorder before the Sunday comes and then receive them later in the week.

For instance a "6 pack" for next week includes 6 Red Plum inserts, 6 P&G inserts, and 6 Smartsouce inserts for $8.40 It will cost you $12.00 just to buy 6 KC Star papers. It is worth the money. I am a little excited about this, and remember what you cannot use you can give to someone who can use it.

I'm amazed how as Christians we often only look at things from a natural viewpoint & not spiritual. Remember God should be apart of EVERYTHING you do.
In ALL your getting, get understanding!
